In dieser Dokumentation wird beschrieben wie bei der Neuinstallation einer STARFACE Appliance vorgegangen werden muss. Die nacheinander durchzuführenden Schritte sindThis documentation describes how to proceed with the reinstallation of a STARFACE appliance. The steps to be performed one after the other are:

1. Bootfähigen USB-Stick für Neuinstallation erstellen
2. Backup erstellen und außerhalb der Appliance sichern
3. USB-Stick an die Appliance anstecken und das System vom USB-Stick starten
4. Nach erfolgreicher Installation USB-Stick abziehen und das System neu starten
5. In der Erstkonfiguration kann nun das Backup direkt importiert werden
6. Netzwerkeinstellungen anpassen
7. Serverlizenz wieder einspielen und durch STARFACE bestätigen lassen

Anmerkung zu Compact v3

1. Connect the USB stick to the appliance and start the system from the USB stick
2. After successful installation unplug the USB stick and restart the system
3. In the initial configuration, the backup can now be imported directly
4. Adjust network settings
5. Restore the server license and have it confirmed by STARFACE Partner

If an Enterprise v5 is not automatically booted from the USB stick for a new installation, press the <F7> key to call up the boot menu and manually select the USB stick. The reinstallation of Enterprise v5 can then be started via the following item in the boot menuSollte bei einer Enterprise v5 nicht automatisch vom USB-Stick für die Neuinstallation gebootet werden, muss mit der Taste <F7> das Bootmenü aufrufen und der USB-Stick manuell ausgewählt werden. Im Bootmenü kann dann über den folgenden Punkt die Neuinstallation der Enterprise v5 gestartet werden:

DauerDuration: caapprox. 60 Minuten (abhängig von der Geschwindigkeit des USB-Sticks und der zu installierenden Version)
Bedeutung: Neues System wird installiert 3. LED leuchtet dauerhaft rot
Dauer: unendlich
Bedeutung: Installation ist abgeschlossen. Der USB-Stick kann entfernt werden und das System kann durch langes Drücken des Power-Buttons ausgeschaltet werden.

Nach dem erneuten Starten des Systems ohne USB-Stick zeigt eine orange LED den betriebsbereiten Zustand an und der Zugriff auf die Weboberfläche ist möglich.

Anmerkung zum BIOS-Update

Meaning: Installation is complete. The USB stick can be removed and the system can be switched off by a long press of the power button.

After restarting the system without a USB stick, an orange LED indicates the ready state and access to the web interface is possible.

Note to the BIOS update

Should encounter the following error message during installationSollte bei der Installation die folgenden Fehlermeldung:

"Trying to unpack rootfs as initramfs....."

zu einem Abbruch des Installationsvorgangs führen, muss ein BIOS-Update vorgenommen werden.

5.3

Eine STARFACE Appliance mit der Version 5.3 muss zwingend neu installiert werden um auf eine der höheren Versionen zu kommen. Dies hat seine Ursache in umfangreichen Updates der zugrundeliegenden Software. Es ist ebenfalls zu beachten, dass die beiden folgenden Appliance Typen nur bis zur Version 5.3 unterstützt werdenA STARFACE appliance with version 5.3 must be reinstalled to get to one of the higher versions. This is due to extensive updates of the underlying software. It should also be noted that the following two appliance types are only supported up to version 5.3:

• STARFACE Professional
