The different STARFACE log files can be viewed and the log files’ logging level can be configured in this tab. The activated Display button to send error report to web interface checkbox releases an additional option which can be used to send error messages directly to STARFACE Support if STARGFACE error pop-ups appear.

The Log File drop-down menu enables selection of the log file for which the log level is to be changed.

Selecting the Level enables selection of the error logging or messages’ detail depth. The log levels in the selection menu are arranged in a hierarchically descending order. This means that the higher level also contains the information provided at the lower levels. So, for example, all of the entries in the ERROR and FATAL categories are also saved and output in the WARN level.

Comments on using the log files

  • The change to the log level is not applied retrospectively to the entire log file. The changed log level is only recorded from the time that the change made is saved / applied.
  • The change to the log level must be applied or saved first of all before the view is updated.

The log file displayed at present can be defined using the Display log file drop-down menu. The specification provided in the Rows entry field always refers to the last rows of the log files and must be between 1 and 999. The activated Auto update checkbox always continuously updates the view of the selected log file automatically, so that this does not have to be done manually using the Refresh button.

Using the  button, it is possible to open the currently selected log file tab in a new browser window and to use STARFACE independently of the other browser windows.

The "Send log files" button opens the following window:

Selecting the first option enables sending of the currently selected log file to any e-mail address. The second selection option transfers all of the important STARFACE log files to STARFACE Support as a zipped file.

Additional information, such as the number of an existing ticket, or providing detailed information which might be helpful in analyzing the log files, can also be provided when sending files to Support. During this process, it must be considered that some log files are only included in this transfer process on a daily basis, and it is very important to send the log files promptly.

In both cases, sending takes place using the "Send now" button.
